inv minor auction, don't raise to slam w/o extras

Given that partner has already shown 10+ pts and a spade card, I feel like I should be able to bid 5c (presuming 4c non-forcing?) and not show "22 total points" and inducing a raise to 6c despite north not having any extras. I shouldn't have stiff diamond else I would splinter 3d earlier? Does GIB get confused if I don't bid stoppers up the line?
