I currently create all my tournaments using the windows software.

It seems to me that the new "Flash" software is not as useful as the old, but I keep going back to have a look in case changes/improvements change my view.

One major difficulty is in the management of lists. That is the - "Include Custom List" and "Exclude Custom List".

I do not have a private club.

Nevertheless, I maintain a list of acceptable players on my computer which I can upload to the tournaments when I create them using the windows software. I need to keep the list on my computer so that I can amend it and - in particular - share it with fellow TDs.

Is there yet a way in which I can upload such a list, from my computer, to the tournament creation routine on the Flash software? If there is, I have not been able to find it.

Until I can upload the lists each time that I create a tournament, I don't see any way in which I can usefully use the new software.

The most recent update to the new software added a "Copy Tourney" button, that lets you create a new tourney with all the same options as a previous tourney. If you're using the same custom list is another recent tourney, I think you should be able to use this to make new ones. You would only have to go back to the old software when your custom lists change.

Will Flash pick up the include/exclude lists when using the copy tournament function?
It's been a long time since I ran a game on BBO but if I remember correctly, any changes at all to the tournament (time, number of players etc)
had to be done using BBO Windows. If I used Flash to change anything, the Windows settings, lists etc would disappear.

In that case, my idea probably won't work. As I understand it, the new Copy function is just like Create, except it automatically fills in most of the fields by copying them from the original tourney. I was assuming that the custom lists were in there, just that there was no way in Flash to upload them from a file.

I haven't actually done any tourney creation/copying myself, so I didn't know whether these lists were displayed. The only tourney editing I've done has been when the TD got disconnected and they needed me to add a fill-in TD. I did that with Flash, but I don't know how the tourney was created.

Windows include/exclude lists and Flash include/exclude lists interact in strange ways. I would strongly recommend not editing a tournament with a Windows include/exclude list in Flash, and not editing a tournament with a Flash include/exclude list in Windows. All of this is woefully underdocumented, e.g. I was very surprised that "include custom list" and "include friends" means that only those people who are both on the list and one of my friends can play (I would have expected the criteria to be ORed instead).

Anyway as far as I know there is no way to copy a "web list" for sharing with other TDs. In fact it seems that in the web version, if you have more than one director, only the host can actually edit the list, not all of the directors. If you've created one tournament with a web list, the next tournament you create will automatically have the same one. This is fine for a one-man show doing only one kind of tournament but not for anything else.
