Imp's, red vs white ( :( ):

(1)-2-(X)-???

What if RHO bids 3 instead of double?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

4H is enough. Let them figure out what to do from there. Five hearts is more likely to egg them into a making slam with one of two critical cards (spade King) in the box.

4 is more likely to let them find they are missing two controls, but not which two.

4 feels right. I'd want (a lot more) distribution for anything higher.

With an 11 card spade fit are they going to ever pass for penalties, so risk is nil. 4H. Is X support or negative? I think 4H either way is good though.

4 does feel right. But here's my theory: if we had those clubs instead of hearts, and partner had overcalled 2 instead, then I reckon 5 would feel right and be accompanied by arguments like maximum pressure.

Are you telling me you'd only bid 4 here? I think there's a natural tendency to bid four in majors and five in minors, even though we don't expect to make it.

So for the original problem I'm bucking the trend and bidding 5!

Actually Danny, I would only bid 4C - with such a flat hand 5CX sounds like 800.

4H no matter what. Partner hasn't made a weak jump overcall, he's made a vulnerable 2 level overcall. He may well have defensive values as well, so no need to bid anything higher. Ax of spades, for example.

4-only for me. The colors, my shape, and the SK are all reasons for me to not bid 5H.

4 -- you have an 11+ card fit.

Partner shouldn't be making a 2 level red vs. white overcall without some pretty decent values.
