I think 3D is a hand that is interested in slam in diamonds since other hands would bid 2N or 3C or 3H. I have good diamonds and 2 controls. So I'll try 3S showing a king or ace and some slam interest. If I think 3S is unclear, I'll try 4C.

Bid shape not stoppers over 2♦. At some point, we have to admit having a balanced hand; and it's much easier to bid 2NT first and now 3♠=values, then to bid 2♠ first and now be endplayed into bidding 3NT.

I would bid 3 NT

-If 3♦ was forcing, by not passing i save the board.

-If 3♦ was invitational, i have a hand that is borderline to accept the invitation and i am one of those who never gives a s@#$%t about a suit that wasnt bid by opponents. Maybe they dont lead, maybe they dont have enough of them to defeat even if the lead, maybe it is blocked.

I agree with Cherdano that this stopper showing bids are not my cup of tea. It is like road map to opponents on the way. I would bid shape first.

I think 4♣ is clear. This decision is easier in an irregular partnership as CHO should appreciate the confusion over 3♠, plus you have nothing to show in hearts so can bid 4♠ next.

JEC clearly decided to finesse but I don't see anything in it.

East is always going to take his time after winning trick one as there is quite a lot to think about on the hand. You might spend some time thinking about squeeze defence. Some players holding ♦Qxx may also lead a spade at this point (pointless I know, but you never know).

So I would have played for the drop.
