I would bid 2♠ over 1♦ with the E hand but I know a lot of people hate that, especially in 2nd seat. I also don't hate 2♠ over 2♦, especially since S could easily have 2 kings less if partner has an inappropriate shape to bid. I don't fault pass in either case though. (Yes that's the best case scenario)

W has no chance to get in, I don't think they're good enough for 2♥ over 1♥

Think it's partially unlucky, partially E has a non-aggressive style.
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

I might bid 1♠ (but not 2♥) with West but would definitely bid with East, either 2♠ or 1♠ according to style. You have a six card major and it's only at the one level.

Happy with East's 1st pass with the poor suit, but when it comes back round at 2♦, with 10 cards in the unbid suits, I think I should prebalance nonvul, for which the 6-card boss suit is a clear winner without specialist agreements.

IMO, some Mike Lawrence admirers would allocate blame to West for failing to risk a brave (foolhardy?) 1♠ sandwich overcall of 1♥ with ♠ AQT8 ♥ A86532 ♦ 7 ♣ T7

1000%. If not 1♠ immediately 2♠ on the next round stands out. The opps have taken 3 bids in my 2-1 suits so passing the puck to partner is just giving up.

East gets more blame. If not 1♠ immediately then 2♠ next although West might risk a sandwich 1♠ at MP's although I'd like an even more solid suit. It's MP and east is White and needs to mention the top suit when holding 6.

Both East and west should bid. As East had the first opportunity he gets most, but certainly not all, of the blame.

I think its right to bid 1S with the east cards. My style is fairly lose at the one level, but this doesn't feel that much of a stretch with 6-4 and 7HCP. Any time partner raises spades I will feel strongly that I have done the right thing. Most of the time with no fit I have actually scared him out of the auction by bidding and that is a good thing too. Unless he has clubs.

I would never bid with the west cards after 1d p 1h.

This is one of those hands where 1 ♠ by East is right at MPs. Yeah, it is an ugly suit, but if you catch partner with 3 decent ♠s and a smattering of other points the hand may be making 2 or 3 on a partscore hand.

At IMPs, the East is a pass.
