Many times I join a table and the host is not playing which then the other 3 players can't do anything. Sometimes the host will be inactive when they know the opponents have a great hand. How frustrating. I will ask a BBO host to bump the current table host but this takes time and effort. However, this happens often where the host will not play and is very frustrating. I suggest that there be a method (other than contacting BBO hosts) that all three players can agree to bump the host when they are inactive. Thank you.

Agreed. It's really annoying when you just arrive at the table and are not sure whether the host is thinking about his bid/play, away for a minute or purely afk. So you leave the table after a while and those who arrive after you have the same problem.
Tired of red/black ♠♥♦♣.
For 4 suits, why not 4 colors ?

IF you guys think it is annoying, it is also annoying for the host, so an automatic solution would be nice.

The way it works, is host have two ways to boot a player. Either way, have to know the players name to get them booted. We have two options. One is to click on the players name and choose boot, the other is to type the players name (spelled correctly) into a text box and then boot them.

What we get is a plea from someone saying:
player1 (private): "host is stuck, help!!!!!!

IF we are not playing, the easy thing to do is to click the players name to go to the table, confirm the host is stuck, and click on the host name to boot him.

IF we are playing, now we have to figure out the name of the host (we can not go to the table), open a webpage, type the player name into a box, and boot the player. You could help by giving the name of the stuck host in the request to have him removed (and spell it correctly).

Actually on the web version yellows can access and boot the stuck host even when playing, because each profile also has a "Table" tab and it's easy to see who the host is.

Also, the software automatically removes inactive hosts after a certain period of time.

[Edited to remove yellow-stuff details.]

I'm not sure how long the auto-boot waits, but it may be longer than players are willing to wait.

I always send the host an "are you there?" message, and only boot him if I get no response.

Perhaps we should continue this discussion of yellow procedures in our private forum....

It would be nice to hear what the actual "certain period of time" is.

Every 5 minutes a job runs that looks scans through recent log messages (about 30 minutes worth). It looks for table hosts that have had at least 7 players arrive since reporting any hand results (or some other activities indicating that the host is active).

The idea of this is to boot a host who's sitting by himself at a table, constantly attracting new players to fill his empty seats, but not actually there. It won't do anything if you're at a full table, the host stops responding, and none of you leave.

If your host stops responding, why doesn't one of you just start your own table and everyone else follow him? Is it really that important to finish the hand you're in the middle of?

If we add a new way for the players to agree to boot the host, it will probably only work if all of them are using the web version, since we're not updating the download version any more.

Hold on, slow down there... think about what you're proposing! This would require actual, bona fide, social interaction! It would mean people might feel bad about hopping on to the next table 1 or 2 hands later! Do we REALLY want that?!?
