Should anyone move for a sacrifice?
What vulnerability would move you to do it?
How do you play doubles over splinters?

The only one who COULD make a move was East. Certainly a double of 4 is not just some lead directing noise sitting over a singleton. It would be the Sac suggestion; I kind of like the double, letting partner make the decision with a "5-5, come alive" distribution. Hope that isn't resulting.

The double suggests a sacrifice in (or a lead, but it's not common the loser can disappear). Perhaps West should bid 5. The hand looks ok for defence (and offence too) with over South's presumable 2nd round control (K), but I'd rather defend 5 than 4.

Doubles of splinters are lead directing. For another suit!

I think its the lower ranking side suit but they haven't come for awhile so tbh I forgot.

Yep, They could be. But in this instance, it would have been fortunate if the double were taken as a suggestion of a sac. And, I certainly don't know the relative frequencies of the two possibilities for double being successful.

If the partnership is using a double of 4C to suggest a sacrifice and West doesn't move on this hand, you might as well change your agreements. You're clearly not using this one effectively.

For you perhaps they are Phil; for others they are not. For me they show length and values in the suit.
Btw, I would have opened with a 2 suited bid for the minors with my partner.
