Server Problems? So Slow at Olympiad

Navigating from match to match at the Olypiad is getting VERY sluggish and it's even worse to try to access the latest results. We were promised so much for the KO stages but we seem to be getting very little. We are still only at Rd of 16 stage so what will it be like later in the week?

Is it due to ISP problems or are the Vugraphs getting too popular?

We have been having server problems. I'm not completely sure what the underlying cause is.

Perhaps because of vugraph's (though the stress a vugraph generates comes at the end, when the table closes and thousands of people are dropped into the lobby). When this happens we have to grit our teeth and wait it out. The vugraph guys are now aware of this , and of some things they can do to ease the stress.

Perhaps because of volume (though we've seen the sluggishness at 3500 users when 6K has been fine ).

Perhaps because of the interaction between the new Standings screen and the server at high load.

There are too many moving parts for me to know what is causing this , just yet. We're looking in to it, and doing what we can when it happens ( not always successfully). We'll figure it out eventually, w/luck before the next weekend.

I'm not sure what you think you were promised, but I think we've been delivering the tables and the scores. I'm keeping the dancing bears for myself. Now that USA has been excused from the KO ;) I expect our manpower crunch to ease , which is only to the good.

At the moment (22:30 Istanbul time - Sunday night) I can't log into BBO at all.

I bidding the suit below the suit I'm actually showing not to be described as a "transfer" for the benefit of people unfamiliar with the concept of a transfer

Chalk it up to growing pains. Problems are no big deal to me - WELL worth setting my alarm for 1 AM to watch, even though USA got bounced ;) .

Good job all.

I'm not sure what you think you were promised,

Hi Uday

Zmud promised this :

"the "scoreboard" feature ( with complete line-ups ) will appear from the first board for every matches of the KO phase....and you will aprecciate it for sure"

That would really be appreciated but I haven't seen it happen during the Rd of 16 - maybe we'll get there this week. I can appreciate it can't be easy if the WBF can't afford to supply full sets of boards and caddies get muddled as to which boards they should be providing but hopefully these probs should disappear as the week goes on ;)

However as always please don't think I'm being too critical - I'm really enjoying the show B) and only offering observations as a member to try to get these great new features right - it will probably take a few big tournaments to get over teething problems.
