On this one I'm definitely trotting out Michaels. Even though I only like to do it with good hands, the T8 of spades and the 6th diamond makes this reasonable, if minimum. If I knew we weren't going to buy the bid, I'd just bid 2, but in this case I don't feel it's right to suppress spades, especially when they are bidding hearts.

I'd say this qualifies as "bad" in good/bad Michaels. I'd bid 2.

I agree with the michaels bid. I have a tendency to
use michaels when I want to emphasize that I have a
minor suit. For ex with KQJTxx xx JT8xx void
I am never going to bid michaels because I want to
emphasize the spades (ie i'll bid 1s). As long as
p is aware of this concept we will rarely end up
in the wrong suit and a lot of the "danger" of using
michaels with the current hand is eliminated.

Hard to say without knowing the void... Do we have a 0-5-2-6, a 5-2-6-0, or something else? If we have 5 and a minor, then 2 is clear imo.
