The bidding goes:
S W N E
1H - 1S -
?

This time, South's ♥ is solid, what should South bid after pd's 1S response?

3H. Dont like the 2 unsupported Qs, but 2H is definitely an undebid.

I think 2♥ is enough.

3H for me. I trust pard will have more than

AQJxx
xx
xxx

to bid 4. Might try 2H if I need a swing/top, though.

I bid 3D. According to my system, this shows
six solid trumps, 3-3 in the minors with some
unsupported honours and a bare top honour in
spades, ace or king. 3C would show the same
hand type with a low spade singleton.

Seriously now, I bid 3H.

THIS time I'm lucky cos I play Precision - bidding goes 1♣so would KNOW P has 8+points AND 5 S for his 1♠ bid (if he bids 1♠that is)

SO If I don't have that information I will only bid 2♥ -- if P is minimum for his 1♠ bid AND can't give me a raise then I suspect game not there

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but this hand looks built for the "Gazzilli" convention, where opener rebids 2C which is either natural with clubs, or a "half reverse" hand, too weak for the 3 level, too good for a 2 level rebid.
Reponder rebids 2D artificial with any constructive hand (about 8 hcp+), bids something else with negative hands.

This solves the issue here, where rebidding 3H has too much side wastage, and 2H is an underbid.

3N is too much, 2H is too little. Count me in for 3H

3♥ would show a 3 card ♠ support in my partnership... :)

im all for the esoteric 2C bids at times, but thats when my suit is bad, or i have 3 card support for spades, or some mix of that. Here it gains nothing except a needless risk. I have no admiration for 2N.

I'm with you Chamaco

Clearly I don't play standard Gazzilli (don't know it) as I play that 2C promises at least 6 Hearts, forcing for one bid, says nothing about Clubs. Responder's rebid should clarify whether there is any point risking the 3 level.

2H, stiff SK doesn't look great and minor suits unsupported Qxx are also rather negative. Give partner SAxxxx Hxx DAxx Cxxx(very decent hand), you need a trump lead or spade lead with trump 3-2, DK on side to make 4H. If opp leads D from DK, you still nedd trump 3-2; if opp leads diamond from Dxxxx, you need CAK on side.... if opps lead a low club, you are probably dead, if opps lead A from CAK, you still need DK on side and trump 3-2....so it really doesn't produce a good game facing a rather decent dummy and sometimes, partner may raise you to 4H with even weak hands. For example, he might have SAJxxx Hxx DKxx Cxxx, you are even worse placed.

I think this shows why 2N is better than 3H. 3N is cold with ur 1st hand, close with the 2nd hand.

3NT isn't cold, it has some fair play if heart breaks and opps has no AJxxx or KJxxx of clubs. However, if you bid 2NT, partner would raise you with a lot of weaker hands, he'd raise you with any fair 7 HCP hands, like Sxxxx Hx DAKxx Cxxxx, which you really don't have a good play. Also 2NT is rated to bid even more games than 3H here. If you bid 3H, partner would often pass with no heart support nad normal 7 HCP hands. 2H would usually guarantee a plus score and may miss games sometimes.
