I have 3.8.8 and check "Kibitz p. when dummy" in my own tourney.
But someone has 3.8.3. Can he see all cards or his partner only?

There is a new tournament option: "Block-opponents-hands-when-dummy" .

When this is set, a 3.8.8 client will not be shown the enemy hands when it is dummy in a tournament.

If the tournament was created by a pre-388 client, the 388 client will assume that it is ok to show all hands.

If the player has a pre-388 version, he will see all the hands

Hi

I am having version 3.8.8.
In the create tournament window, i see only the option to allow dummy to kibitz partner. I dont see the option to block-opponents-hand-when-dummy. How can I exercise this options please

dummy to kibitz partner = block-opponents-hand-when-dummy

I took a short cut to avoid a translation , although I am starting to regret it.

Maybe just invert the option and call it "Dummy sees all hands" - default would be off. Btw, I suggest that "Barometer" is on by default.

By the way, now we have this, and dummy cannot see the opponents cards, would it be possible to implement a feature whereby the director can move the dummy across to play the hand when his partner his frozen? Maybe even this could be done automatically if a player disconnects? (Yeah, ok, a weak player with a strong partner could quit on purpose to let his partner play it, then reconnect, but how many players do you know who will do that?)

That would be wonderful. I would not, however, allow the person to reconnect. Once the director shifts his partner, the seat is gone.

I was referring to a situation where the switch would happen automatically if a player disconnected. (Directors on BBO have to resolve more connection problems than actually do any directing. Anything that can be done to help automate the process would help).

Perhaps give the player a minute to return before making the switch.

Automatic switches would be trickier than a command in the Director! list
that says

"Take over for my missing partner".

If invoked, i could simply swap dummy and the (missing) declarer.

I like it. After istanbul.

Sorry for being obvious, but only if tourney allows dummy to see only declarer's hand :)
