If this is teams, not sure I agree with the final double, I think that's hanging partner a bit for balancing.

LHO didn´t bid 3 directly it seems he has solid values, and RHO is a second position opener. Something is not working. I need to know a little about partner.

I would lead a heart, but in retrospect leading away from a king where opponents are 3-2 will very raarelly be any good, if I hadn´t led the heart so fast and though a bit more I think I would try a club.

I don't like the double. Making seems more likely than -2. And I don't know what to lead.

I don't agree with the double at imps, but do at matchpoints.

I think I will try a club and hope partner has clubs behind dummy strength, and I have diamonds behind declarer's king. iF the minors are the other way around (clubs with opener, diamond in dummy) they may easily make. i hope we get 1-2 hearts, 1-2 spades, 2 diamonds and a club, with two tricks in at least one of the majors.

I hate the double. If this is -2, I earn 7 imps. And how on earth can this be -2?
I am close to leading a spade, if the honours are divided, this may not even cost us a trick- and it may cost them even more then one trick. But I go with a systemic club too.
Kind Regards

Roland

I'll try a trump.

LHO's 3S makes it probable that he has A or Q of spades, so this lead probably gives nothing away and might well stop some ruffs. Besides, other leads are so much of a guess that I rather guess in trumps. Opps aren't going to set up any suits anyway.

Ok ok this completes my german clean-sweep. Can I have the cup now please? :P

The problem with a trump is that they'll win it cheaply and then we won't be able to play any more of them without costing a trick. Ideally we want partner to win the opening lead and switch to a trump from his side. Then we can play two more rounds when we get in.

Right. But why can't pard have two spades? Or why can't I blow a 2nd trump trick with profit? :)

He can have two spades, but it's not very likely. He doubled 2 as a passed hand, and the opponents have competed to 3 missing two trump honours and with less than half the high cards.

As for blowing a trump trick, you can if you like, but if you give away a trick unnecessarily it's still a problem.

Also, suppose that we have exactly one quick entry: if we lead a trump, and then use our side entry to play a second trump, we have used up our entry (and a trick) in order to play two rounds of trumps. If partner leads the first trump, we can use our entry to draw three rounds of trumps.

Arguing goes both ways lol. Pard can also have a singleton T or higher, dummy may have AQ of spades, leading a side suit might blow a trick as well, etc. Well, anyway, I'll just stick to my trump lead because in my experience when opps are playing dbled and outgunned, a trump lead is usually right.

I'm sure. Double here with no clear lead is going for the hero biscuit.

I'm tempted for a shot at 4 or 3NT after the X - I've got overcards, partner has shape / values in the other suits and a max pass, should have some play...

Double would have survived, as long as aren't led. The combination of the two was deadly.
