with a pickup partner I´d bid 1, but if I have enough confidence I start with redouble and look for penalties, their best fit might be diamonds, and that is one that they won´t find easilly.

Imagine you were playing better minor and you might understand why I hate XX with this hand so much but I can certainly sympathise with those who have no other call to show a hand this good. My only alternative is "<Justin Lall partner> eggs in one basket" :)

Very good point, Gonzalo. It wouldn't work vs me though, for I play that

1D dbl rdbl pass = let it be :)

There is so much potential with this hand a low level penalty just seems to
be the wrong way to look at this hand at this vulnerability. Sure we might set the opps 4 in one major but miss 6 or even 7 in the other major. I also
have less than zero desire to try 1d xx as a final contract too big a risk

start with the forcing 1s call and opt for xx only if your partnership
plays 1s as non forcing.

Thats why West passing the XX should mean I have 5/6D and im somewhat willing to play there rather than im 3/3 in both M
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

XX

Partner rates to have enough diamond strength for 1 XX or to defend against 2 X from their side.

But if he holds fewer diamonds, I may have big problems in showing my hand later.
Kind Regards

Roland

2x is likely to produce a better score than 4M?
