Hi all,

yesterday I saw the result of a ACBL tournament.

The first (73%) got 0.8 MP. :( :D :o

The 20. (47%) was 4. in his section and got 0.28 MP. :P  :P

Seems the awards are given for playing there not for playing well. :) B)

Cheers

Hi Al,

BBO/ACBL games masterpoints are awarded by section.

When the tourney begins the field is automatically divided into sections. The award points are determined according to the placement in each individual section played.

Sometimes one section is very tight in scores. When this happens the section winners have the top score in that section but may score much lower against the field.

Example: If Section 1 has a NS pair with a 70% score - they win their section for NS and may have the best score overall for their tourney. But maybe in Section 4 the scores are tight and a 52% game wins NS for that section. That pair also wins his/her section but perhaps comes in 11th for the overalls.

Hope this helps. <_<
