3 shows up to 20 HCP with 9+ cards in the minors. E seems sensible in that light, it seems like the partnership has 25-29 HCP and his minor suit queens have to be working.

Can east really have up to 20 hcp having passed 1nt? It says up to 20 total points, but thats not the same thing.

You're right, I missed it. I wonder "total points" based on what fit?

TP is not based on any fit in GIB thinking.

I think it's more strange to say that West shows a minimum of 16 points by making a competitive 3 bid than to say that he could have up to 20.

I am also curious about the human 2 bid. I have seen this a few times with randoms on BBO. Is this a common thing to do? Would you do this in an over the table tournament, or is it a robot-only thing?

I would do it more frequently in robot games than f2f, but my regular partner would certainly understand my 2 bid to show 2-3C; 5-6D; 2-3H; 2-3S rather than the strange possibilities that GIB's explanations allow.

West should have bid a major. And how can east possibly have 4+, 5-6, and 5-6? That's at least 14 cards hahaha.

You forgot the likely stopper in diamonds- 15 cards at least.
