This is a thread place holder for hands that are played Starting Sunday October 24th. Simply reply to this topic with a link to hands you want to nominate for consideration.
Today is the last day to submit hands for the week four contest, and to vote for the week three contest. Voting starts tomorrow for the week four contest. There is still plenty of time to submit hands for the week five contest (time frame ends Satureday for play, and you have until a week from tomorrow to submit hands). The two entries so far in week five can be easily beaten I think. Find your proud hand of the week and submit it.

So far there hasn't been a suggested hand of the week in defense. This has to be changed!
Here is a nice defense by star player toniemme (South) and pally.
Abalucy Saturday Night Hand 4
(How do I get the play extracted from BBO? Or is there anyway to directly convert a .lin-file into the format here?)
Anyway, after spade lead won in dummy, heart king to Ace, two rounds of spades (2nd ruffed), declarer finds out about the trump break when he plays the queen of hearts.
So Diamond to Ace, low diamond ruffed low, shortening his trumps and trying to score his remaining ♥J9 in an endplay; he exits with a club won by South.
This is left:
Defense must now set up a trump coup, shortening North's trump first:
♠Q, with club discards from W and N. ♦T, ruffed with the ♥6 (another club discard from W), club back to the Ace, and ♦ K from South for the trump coup.
Other routes also lead to down 3 from the 2nd diagram, but for most South has to assume ♣K with N, or North has to assume ♣A with South -- both very likely, but not entirely certain maybe. +500 won them 5.5 IMPs.

The easiest way to count losers is to line up the people who talk about loser count, and count them. -Kieran Dyke

Use Cascade's excellent LINCONVERTER.EXE which has an option to include play (shows all tricks)...
To do this, find hand on myhands, save it to your computer, then open it with lin converter and check the various options you want... one hand, NS hands, EW hands, left dummy, right dummy, full hands, and of course the option to show play (or not). You can also rotate the hands so that any hand can be south (it alsw rotates the bulnerability conditions, the dealer, etc).

A nice 6D auction by lambda_ and ppilot, a very similar auction by wesely2 and sztetke, but here i nominate ppilot for his insightful 4♠ cue-bid and good choice to pass 6♦. This auction seems more accurate to me than that of wesely2 and sztetke.
