For those interested, a convention card for Baltic Club, as played by Smirnov-Piekarek, is available here but unfortunately without much detail. The key seems to be that 1♣ - 1♦; 2♣ is natural and non-forcing (probably ~11-17) and they are essentially gambling that they can handle the 18+ club-based hands well enough to compensate for the plusses from the 2♣ opener. Perhaps Gerben or Free know more about this system...

Yes it does unless it's not the last syllable. This rule is confusing me but I will get used to it. Dutch orthography is less convoluted than this system anyway.

Cheers, very useful. Don't speak dutch but everything is nicely layed out so you can pretty much work it out.

Thanks, for me the last language I was trying to decipher was Polish (using my little knowledge of Russian) but Dutch (based on my barely less little knowledge of German) looks so easier :-)

Note that in Baltic Club, 1♦ can be up to 21 points with a 2-suiter, and 1M up to 18 HCP, so their 1♣ is just a bit less overloaded than in the original post here.
