Do you thinks GIB Hearts are solid?

What about supporting partners spade suit?

You really have to 'hold your nose and hope' when bidding slams with GIB as
in general GIB does not correctly describe its holdings.

Since when does 3H mean solid hearts?
"The King of Hearts a broadsword bears, the Queen of Hearts a rose." W. H. Auden.

It doesn't, but 4H is alerted as "solid hearts" (twice) and 2 or less ♠.

In the particular case, any other bid outside the Soloway jump shift suit by GIB will show 4+ support in the opening.

So 4♦ will show splinter and 4+♠. 4♠ will show just 4+ and no splinters.

So one of these two things things seems it needs reviewing. Either 3+spades is required or not solid, but 6+ suit by responder.

The specific auction 1♠-3♥ is a problem, because there isn't room for different bids to show both a solid and non-solid 6-card suit. If GIB's hand doesn't fit any of the other rebids, it defaults to rebidding its suit. This is catch-all lie, so we don't show it in the description.

Why didn't you bid 3♠ to show your 6-card suit? 4♣ doesn't show length in ♣, it just shows controls (at least KQ). But it turns out it wouldn't have helped, GIB still thinks it needs 4+ to raise instead of rebidding its suit. And even if I reduce the ♥ length to 5, it doesn't rebid 3NT, because its range for this is 17-19 HCP, and this hand is too strong. We need to fix these things -- a 9-card fit should be enough to raise opener, and with 20+ HCP and balanced it should bid 6NT.

This is not a Soloway jumpshift hand. The correct bid is 2H, not 3H.

This design is simply wrong. If gib has no suitable rebids, it really should not make a jumpshift.

20 HCP and a good 6-card suit isn't a Soloway Jump Shift? Can you provide a reference that says this?

I think we just need to fix the followup bids, to fill in some holes.

I do have one partner where we've agreed to only use strong jump shift from the 1 to 2 level, because jumping to the 3 level uses up too much space (and so we can use 1M-3m as intermediate -- these hands are normally difficult to show in 2/1). But I don't think this is standard.

There are a number of variations of Soloway, one includes two suit hands where the second suit is support for the opener's suit so with that variation, this is a Soloway hand but I agree generally don't have Soloway at least not over majors (just don't bid the jumpshift since GIB will make a mess of it and it wastes bidding space). Over a minor, it makes some sense as there isn't a simple game force single bid.

There are many types of strong jump shifts, but Soloway is a specific variation of them. It shows 3 types of hands, and two-suited with 4+ support for opener is just one of them. See the GIB system notes for details.

The purpose of Soloway Jump Shift isn't to force to game, it's to suggest slam possibilities. If you just start with a game forcing 2/1, it's often hard to show the extra values.
