Doesn't North value his hand at 11 total points? If so, why doesn't he allow for the possibility of game over partner's raise?

But, in this auction, why does North bid over 1NT?

IMO, the bot is confused by his own explanation of NMF on the 1NT rebid variation. Responder should have less than 5 spades only if slammish for hearts or NT. Otherwise why do it? And, yes it is a pass of the 1NT rebid; we don't get to add to our total point count for the stiff heart when the hand belongs in notrump.

In the first hand, the book bid is 3♠. In 8 of 11 simulations it decided to pass. I haven't examined the simulated hands, but I'll bet it realized that shortness opposite partner's suit is duplication of values.

Looks like agua is right about the 2nd auction. With a 5-card suit, it's probably OK to use total points when deciding whether to bid NMF, but with only 4 it should use HCP. Georgi, this looks like a simple fix.
