On this hand with clubs K965 opposite 42, late in the hand GIB plays a club to the NINE instead of putting up the king, which would have won and made the contract. True, the opponent who won the trick was endplayed, but that did not actually help produce another trick. I don't get it.

if west had had the ace the contract would be safe now as the endplay would now be worthwhile (no entry to east for a diamond through), so it's pretty much a 50-50 guess.
