Perhaps this is one I can save myself from, but I don't think GIB should suppress the diamond fit unless it has a slightly better (and longer) club suit.

Why does West not double the first time?- when its one level down, why doesn't East respond to the double- its got a decent hand?

GIB needs 12TP and 11HCP to double 1♦ with such shape. It has 12TP, but only 10HCP.

With hand like : ♠AJT9 ♥QJ43 ♦7 ♣K1086 it will Double.

East finds the respond 2♥ but not too often, because it considers West subsequent double as not that strong as initially to shows his hand.
