Firstly, do you agree with 2H? OK I don't but seriously unless you play a Ben like structure, is there a "real" alternative? (We do play a forcing nt). Personally I would bid that, but....

Ron, I had a nearly identical hand a few years ago and bid 2♥. Upon reflection, I think its best to follow the old maxim, "Never put down an 8 card suit in dummy".

This is an interesting choice. Do you bid 5D for lead directing or 5C for further competition? I vote for 5C. I am not sure I want to ruff with doubleton SQJ. Better to tell pd where my strength is.

2H is bad. The right bid here is 1NT. Later you can introduce your clubs at some level. How many clubs you bid is no science though.

That can´t be possible since I am bidding 5♥ myself

I tend to treat 3 card support with a void in a similar manner as 4 card support with a singleton.

So here I would use a mixed 4 card raise, whichever is allowed by the system: e.g. a Bergen 3♣ (6-9) or a FitShowing Jump 3♣.
Fitshowing jump has the big flaw of wasted side QJ.

What I would not use is the raise to 2♥, which in my opinion:

1) should be less unbalanced
2) should have more HCP if 1NT forcing is in use (<8 hcp 3 card raise would go via 1NT)

I believe the problems after opps competing to 4S are consequence of 2H.

Two more question:

1) is opener's hand limited (e.g. strong club framework or alike) ?
2) is it not risky to agree forcing pass on a sequence where, after all, responder has only suggested non-invitational value ?

Opener is limited to 18. The fp is set up because of the game bid. This may not be ideal, but we have found it works.

By the way I am not sure I want to play this in 4♥ anyway. 5♣ likely to play better.

how often is 4♥ making? 5♣ on the other hand is cold unless they find a heart ruff.

By the way I don't think that is partner's hand if he made a forcing pass of 4♠ as with that hand he'd clearly double.
