"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Or North could have saved himself that aggravation by opening in second seat...
Edit: Of course, the vast majority of Souths wouldn't pass directly over 1♣ either...

Why is this North concealing his spade support? Or was he going to place the contract in spades after RKC(D)?

Of course, but vulnerable opposite passed hand doubling with 4-3-3-3 shape and without significant extras is asking for trouble imo.

That hand is supposedly not-passable twice in this auction. Unfortunately it can't be replicated. GIB always find something to bid.
Weird, GIB passed just on one table from four where the South passed.
vulnerability makes no difference.
I tried several times and GIB always doubled. Ignore the double i gave, but i needed some close bid to export the game here.
So that pass looks like rare occasion.
