Hi,
I'm wondering why this would be played in a 5-2 fit rather than 4-4 fit?

thanks

Hi Jilly, the answer to your question is that Nth has bid the hand badly. She should wait for a reopening X from Sth. 2D X does not play well. If East chooses to rescue into 2H with this motheaten suit, (I would not), then Nth Sth may end up in a non makeable 3NT

It probably shouldn't be played in the 5-2 fit. This is a real world hand, where north felt the urge to raise on honor doubleton. Now, 3 is a game try, and my not contain 4 clubs, and in fact, south may be making slam try with great hand insteaad of a mear game try. So north simply can not pass.
