Are there any systems where 1♣ can be short, but not just 4=4=3=2, and do not fall under the "fundamentally unfamiliar" criteria for requiring pre-alert?

Maybe something like 1♣ is natural or balanced, and 1♦ promises an unbalanced hand.

Montreal relay - which is a Majors 5, Diamonds 5 system; 1 club is either 1+ or 2+ w/a mini-roman.
1C = clubs or 15+-17 BAL, 1D = diamonds or 13-15- BAL, 1NT 10-12

Some people allow 1♣ on any balanced hand while not stating that 1♦ needs to be unbalanced.
