Midway through a pairs game in a very weak field (side game at Seattle, you've already been gifted more overtricks than you could ever imagine), in a pickup partnership with an "old-style" intermediate player that you've just met at the partnership desk, you pick up this collection, 1st seat white on red:

No².
(Although it isn't really an issue here - as pretty much everything else also argues against a weak 2-bid - I believe that ACBL rules won't allow a weak 2 on two HCP.)

I'm pretty sure there is no point restriction as to weak 2 in the ACBL. The issue is if your weak 2 range is more than 7 points, you are only allowed natural bids over it (no feature, no ogust, no mccabe, no keycard).

I'd pass. I'm probably a bit old style, so if you told me at the desk you were really wild, but usually successful, then go for it if it's your hand (though I'd wonder for a moment why you were playing with me, or more importantly why I was playing with you.)

No. In a bad field that is giving you gifts, let them do their thing and partner too.

No, why would you in a weak field and with an "old style partner". Do you want to aggravate him/her?

I concur with the others. It seems like a high variance swinging move, and if you're being gifted overtricks at matchpoint scoring, you don't need to start swinging, particularly 1st seat in!
3rd seat white on red though, and playing with a regular partner, and if I need to swing, I might consider a psyche of 1D (retiring to 1S if partner redoubles for SOS). LHO rates to have atleast 17 HCP and some shape, and isn't likely to have 4 spades so won't make a takeout double. With a pickup partner though a psyche rates to be a terrible idea, so this hand has no future.

I would only bid if I wanted this pickup PD to ask for a different PD for the next session.

As several others have said, no, especially in a field where I am being gifted good scores for doing middle of the road things
