What are the rules for GIB opening leads?

Should they be modified to suggest, with no strong indication from the bidding to lead otherwise, an Ace from an AK side suit holding against a suit contract?

GIB's declarer play and defense is almost entirely based on simulations. The "standard lead" rules only come into play when deciding which card to play from the suit, not in choosing the suit.

So in this case, if it had decided to lead a heart, it would have led the King, since its agreement is King from AKx.
