i think the reason lies in the nature of bulletin boards... i've been on quite a few for a very long time, ranging from philosophy to chess... rarely have i ever seen threads locked or deleted for any reason except age... not that it's never happened, just rarely

so i think some people see this as an infringement on their right to give an opinion, and not as you see it... like most everything, it's all a matter of philosophy

I'm not a fan of deleting threads, just to make that clear.

I also agree with you on people's right/wish to express opinions.

What I reacted on was the magnitude a relatively "trivial" issue escalated into.

If you read into what I said that I don't think people have the right to voice an opinion, well then I failed.

my apologies

nah, i don't think you said that... but we need to remember that what seems like a trivial issue to you or maybe even me might not seems so trivial to the one posting, or to others reading... and it's the nature of people to lobby for support... in this environment, the issues are bridge related and the support, or lack of it, comes from players

i'm not a big fan of naming names, especially if there's an accusation attached, unless the named person has a public record to which to point, ie a competing post... i see nothing wrong with naming a club though... i can make up my own mind as to the triviality of a post, knowing ahead of time that all such judgments (mine included) are subjective by definition
