I would give up on slam and just jump to 4h now.

Pard could not overcall 1c at nv.

Agreed .. I would just bid 4H.

Even if partner has the magic hand (AK spades or some such match) he likely has no little to no heart fit so I'm not even sure how we are going to simultaneously force the bidding AND figure out if he has it. If there is no clear route probably best not open a can of worms.
If no one comes from the future to stop you from doing it then how bad a decision could it really be?

If fortunate enough to have this start, passing 3NT seems right.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

Agree with rexford, if partner bids 3NT and I have 9 tricks in hand I pass or raise the same strain.

Balance 4H and make it on an endplay on opener.

Put me down for an immediate 4H. Jump shifts in passout seat are strong (if they arent leaping michaels, etc etc) and partner ought to expect 9 tricks for me. If he has an ace-king and another stray feature of interest, partner is welcome to raise or trot out Old Ebony.

Or, balance 4H and claim ten red winners.

What does 3 mean in your pdship in balancing seat ?
"Genius has its own limitations, however stupidity has no such boundaries!"
"It's only when a mosquito lands on your testicles that you realize there is always a way to solve problems without using violence!"

"Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say."
