Players who join tables when they know they are registered for a tourney which is about to start are a major PITA. We had one earlier this morning, (s)he stayed for FOUR TRICKS before being whisked off to a tourney. Anyone else think it would be a good idea for a player's profile to show that they've registered for a tourney, or better yet to show the time that tourney is due to start? A table host should be able to reject those players who are going to be dragged away to a tourney in the next few minutes.

There used to be a restriction for players registered to play tourney. I am not sure if it still applies - but I think not.

When someone clicked to join a table while being registered for a tourney starting in less than 10 or 15 minutes the request was automatically denied, and a message appeared saying "you cannot sit, you are registered to play tourney soon".

This did not count much because:

- a player can still receive and accept invitations while playing at a table.
- anyone can register for a tourney while playing at a table

As soon as people figured out how to bypass the restriction, it was no longer effective. And it didn't take long to figure it out :)

I don't accept that the restriction would no longer be effective. As long as it prevents SOME players from being a nuisance in the way I describe, it's useful.

If BBO doesn't want to reinstate the restriction, then a flag in the player's profile, as I suggested above, is second best.

IMHO, a player shouldn't be allowed to register for a tourney while seated at a table - they should have to leave first, although I wouldn't oppose a reasonable time limit instead, more or less the reverse of the above, you can't register for a tourney starting in the next 15 minutes while seated at a table.

Whether that's implemented or not, I don't see why an automated message shouldn't be broadcast to the rest of the table if a seated player signs up - "I have registered for a tourney starting in X minutes". Then everyone knows where they stand, and the table host can evict the player at the end of the hand if they don't consider the player has time to complete another hand.

I just don't see why tourneys should have the sort of priority that they seem to have over ordinary play. And no, I don't play in tourneys myself (I tried them, far too much waiting around for my taste).
