Several questions:

1. How can I have 27+ total points when I have 22-24 HCP and am balanced?
2. Why can't we just play 3♠XX+1?
3. Failing that, why can't we just play 5♦?
4. What hand did GIB think I might have where 6♦ or even 7♦ would be good?
5. What response exactly was GIB hoping for when it bid 5NT?

seems like on the first one your xx gave give the info you had good spades and it should just bid 3NT or
I dont know how it would interpret it if you had bid 3NT over 3♠ doubled. I always thought that it was
the duty of the NT bidder to just respond, if there had been no double and had bid 3NT would it still want to pull it?

ah interesting hand a heart club squeeze

I suppose it was reminding you that you held all the keycards.

Yes, several people bid 3NT and got pulled.

Seems like if south had shown four card support for either minor would be better chance for slam in both of the two hands above neither made, double dummy we can see squeeze.so we win spade touch diamonds, get bad break, so now know east is 5(6)♠ 4 ♦...do we have enough info?

So we pull trump play spades knocking out Queen, takes out option of ruffing heart if east is 6-kx-4-1 is on winning spade east returns club. So do we get forced to play for squeeze?

I didn't say you should make it, but club aren't always 5-1! I would be thrilled to be in this slam.

Yeah you missed that GIB bid 2♦ so I wasn't playing it. ;)

Counting aces as 1 extra TP is not unreasonable- I think its somewhere in the GIB convention card.

Because its GIB and it can't handle unusual responses.

No they arent but we quickly learn that east is 6-4 in the pointeds just trying to see if there is way to test that heart first
In case the king was on side all the time, just that nasty club break.

after some of the comments from J Lall
ran this one through dealmaster pro using the auction given
if someone feels the constraints are different let me know and ill change them
generated 200 hands then ran deep finesse on them

constraints:
HCP 20-22
♠2-5
♥2-5
♦3-3
♣2-2

constraints on minor suits are set according to way auction proceeded, south not raising to 5♣ or bidding minor initially to show four card minor

Results:
6♦ 110/200 55%
6NT 22/200 11%

so J Lall said he would be very happy(thrilled) to be in this contract he is correct!

ran another 500

6♦ 391/700 56%
