I maybe wrong, but I think advanced robots just spend more time considering what to do before they do it. If you have played in a Robot Event that cost money, it is my understanding that the robots there are advanced. There is no special bidding options, etc. Same system, etc. If I am wrong, I am sure someone will point it out soon enough.

That's it. The advanced robots are simply "smarter" then the basic robots.

Yes, it's the same thing.

If you use the download client, the robots run on your machine and you can set the thinking time.

If you use the web client, the robots run on the BBO servers. They only have two settings for thinking time: fast and cheap ($1/week) or slow and expensive ($1/day or tourney).

I use the old client bbo program and have set the gib to a slower speed. I do find improved play from my Gib P and from my Gib opponents. Are the other tables I'm competing against using the same advanced Gib?

If you're playing in the MBC, I think it can be a mix of all different types of robots playing the same boards. Also, in the MBC the human can choose which seat to sit in, so some tables may have robots in your seat.

In robot tourneys the playing field is more level. It's all advanced robots, and the human is always South.
