-800 was worth 35.56% because this happened at so many tables.

I bet then taking your eight tricks was worth a lot of matchpoints then
East can still switch to a diamond then we get back to same spot or worse
sometimes its just the lay of the cards, actually there is some merit to its line of play
q10xx or q10x or qxx ♦ in east but then if you let queen hold if your like me gib would underlead all those spades and find his partner with king

looking at the card percentages
with know cards for west at 8 and east with 3 if 2 rounds of clubs played
percentages for q(t)xx or qxxx something are around 45%

Not really. I got a pretty good score for +200.

PS please don't quote the whole handviewer bit, it takes up lots of space and makes the page slower to load.

If you duck at trick one then they can switch to spades and you've only got eight tricks. GIB's play will make the contract whenever East's diamonds are Qxx or better, on the assumption that West has the remaining five hearts and not the ♠A for his weak two opener.

I'm not sure what the right play is, but GIB's line seems very reasonable.

The hand is down no matter what. Its the 3NT bid without good diamond support that's bad.
