Why does East give a ruff-sluff on Trick 11, when he has a complete count of the hand?

I'm not sure it has a correct count of the hand. I suspect Sue's bidding confused it, since it would never open 1♦ with 3-3 minors. So I'll bet it concluded that she raised with 3, and the ruff-sluff wouldn't help her.
Bidding weirdly is a good way to get GIB to go wrong. For instance, when playing robot races, one doesn't generally open hands under 15 HCP, but you'll still compete if the opps open. GIB will often double you for penalty if you seem to get too high, since it doesn't expect you to hold such a good hand.

Maybe East thinks ♥T and ♥6 could be reversed, so he's upper-cutting North's ♥A8?

I suppose. My card combinations suck, is running the J and 9 a reasonable play holding J965 opposite A874 in dummy?

My understanding is that GIB assumes human opps will make double-dummy plays in future tricks. Does it also assume human opps made the best plays in prior tricks?

I posted a link to GIB's algorithm in a thread a week or so ago, I think it discussed that.
