GIB originally responded 1NT then over raise to 2nt bid 4♣
I would take this as Gerber but I guess it wasnt oh well

Can't GIB just bid a natural forcing 3C instead of 4C-even 5C has no chance?

in this sequence:

1♠ - 1NT
2NT ( Invitational to 3NT game -- 2-5 ♣; 2-5 ♦; 2-5 ♥; 5 ♠; 17-19 HCP; 22- total points ) - ?

the responses which follow are:
3♣ - Transfer -- 6+ ♦; 3- ♠; 6 HCP
3♦ - Transfer -- 5+ ♥; 3- ♠; 6+ HCP; 12- total points
3♥ - 3 ♠; 10-12 total points
3♠ - 3 ♠; 6+ HCP; 9- total points
3NT - 5- ♥; 3- ♠; 8+ HCP; 12- total points

So GIB can't just bid 3♣ as natural forcing here.

As 2NT is supposedly invite for 3NT, 4♣ looks like invite for 5♣ only not for pass/correct 4♠.
If 1NT is having invitational hand toward the opened major it would be revealed.

Those transfer continuations have gotten me many times. They look so much like natural bids, and I've never heard of anyone playing them any other way, so I never remember to click on them to see the explanation. Is this actually a common treatment?

your kidding me, GIB actually plays these type of transfer sequences?
granted the whole idea of 4♣ over 2nt is pretty amgiguous
but to me I took it as GIB having along minor not worthy of a 2/1 and since
partner showed a strong NT hand its hand grew up, I used to be pretty up on conventions etc.
but wasnt aware of this treatment posted in the link.

and so our alot of other things that one can play with a regular partner, I wasnt even aware of these bids till I read about the fourth post in this thread.
It just seem weird because on most levels GIB bidding is very standard yellow card that it would even play someting like that then it plays 3NT openings as
something like 26HCP. So is this something that was programmed into the bots later on, the orignal gib program has a sys file that loads the parameter of
the convention card you play, someone had to add this???
