The robot's forcing NT followed by delayed support already showed a minimum. For his bidding, he actually has a maximum -- Axx of trumps instead of the possible xx, a double fit, and a ruffing value.

Why are you inviting in the first place? North has shown either 6-9 HCP with only 2 hearts, or a sub-minimum hand with 3 trumps. Either way, you should have another trump to invite.

I invited because I thought I wanted to be in game if pard had 8-9HCP on his 6-9HCP range, and expected him to use something close to that criteria for deciding whether to accept.

His extra trump, club support, spade shortness, and no wastage in the side suits adds up to those 2-3 points you were asking for.

Note that I'm not saying that I would have done the same thing as the robot, but it's not unreasonable. I'd certainly have considered it. It could even be a good MSC hand.

GIB North decided to run some simulations after your invite. The simulations told him 4H would more likely make than not with his 6TP (which he thinks is better than minimum he promised) and a likely double fit, so he went to 4.

can you still use the GIB.exe(bridge.exe) with extensions to do the simulation like you used to?

tried to set up and run bridge.exe with arguments in windows 7 wouldnt work, but does work on earlier
versions of windows

bridge.exe -a -I -s

-a master solver type of solving
-I I believe is imps solving
-s shows summary
-J would be for matchpoints

could have -I and -J reversed but command lines can be found at GIB web site

it will let you enter in dealer, vuln, auction and your hand
and I believe you can enter in number of simulations or time to run.

I wonder who is more accurate dealmaster pro or gib???
