I think GIB plays fast arrival, so 3♠ would be a minimum.
Maybe 4♣ would get GIB to cue bid his diamonds.

As responses:
3♥;3♠ would be both minimal hands, just 3♥ would promise some length there.
4♠ would be stronger hand.
4♦;4♥ would be longer suits promised.
4♣ will promise Ace/void and maximum opening strength.
