My redouble appears to have very little definition here -- It should clearly be desire to play in 2♥ XX if partner has some tolerance, otherwise partner can bid 2♠ to show <INV or do something else. In this case, I don't really know why GIB was bidding 3♠. With my ubermax and undisclosed 3 card support I made a pushy 4♠ call, however the problem here lies in GIB's 3♠ call which was peculiar at best.
Another example of this came up an hour or so later:
This hand is absolutely ridiculous. GIB's 3♠ call should be a GF, not some random 4-5 yarb. Once again the redouble seems to show extra "Total Points" but say nothing else -- I really don't see how this is a practical use. GIB's line of play here was slightly less-than-optimal as well.
