All actions seem reasonable, how would you get to 5♦?

(ps: new partnership, South stated before play: "WJS always" whatever that means, but presumably it means N can't bid 2♠ at his first bid should he wish to do so)
It is impossible to believe in individual autonomy while simultaneously believing in a right to well-being supported by others.

Sometimes I use big words I don't fully understand to make myself seem more photosynthesis.

North should not be so eager to stop bidding when he has an opening hand opposite a vulnerable overcall. He should bid 3♦.

Edit: Of course, South could make things easier by bidding 2♦ instead of 2♥, but North gets the vast majority of the blame for aborting the auction.

south should rebid 2 diamonds - he's well above minimum. north's pass is fine
