I need HELP from the GIB programmers at BBO!!!!

Whenever the auction goes 1 of a major by me, 1nt by Robot partner, and 3 of a minor strong jumpshift by me, the robot has no clue what to do!!!!!!!!!!

Often the robot will have the other two suits locked up (well stopped), with about 8 points and never manages to bid 3nt. It will often raise my second suit on a two carder, when any human out there would bid 3nt.

Also over reverses such as 1 1 , 2 , the robot will rebid 2 you can never tell if the robot has 5 points or 15...

Please help in these two areas.

Ron: It would likely be helpful to the programmers if you could point them to specific hands where these problems occurred.

About 1) 1Major - 1N ; 3minor - ?

What hand you encounter that GIB passes with in this auction?

In the auction 1-1N-3-?
With a hand like this 32QT32AJ32J32 GIB will rebid 3N here.

Also with 32Q732A732J32 will bid 3N again.
Also with 328732AQ32J32 will bid 3N again.

So it's not so general issue as you see.

About 2) 1 - 1 - 2 - 2 - it's 6+TP and based on your major rebid 18-22TP should be least R1 forcing.

Rebid is respectively oriented toward the particular holdings in the current hand as GIB could make other, 2N, 3///, etc.

So the case is you're wondering whether to proceed over 2 as taken that as none-forcing bid?

Hi Bradley,

I play a lot of races so I don't remember the exact hands, but I have seen it on at least 5 occasions. Seeing it repeatedly has led to my frustration. But I do see your point in helping the programmers. If I encounter it again, I will save the hand and post it.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi Georgi,

After the reverse I have seen the Robot rebid 2 of the Major with 5 points AND with 14 points! This much variation makes it impossible for opener to judge what to do next. Many people play that after reverse 2nt by responder is a weak hand. Some play 4th suit forcing on all strong hands.

I have never seen the Robot pass the jumpshift, but for me it has never bid 3nt when most people playing in the "real world" would bid 3nt on hands where slam is remote & without a great fit for opener's two suits.

Thanks for your comments.
