After our successful missions to bring peace and stability to Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, and Syria, our Ministry of Truth is pleased to report that right-thinking freedom-fighters, funded by altruistic outsiders, have ousted the corrupt President of the Ukraine and his apparatchiks (allegedly all democratically elected -- but how can that be when many voters are filthy communists?) Naturally, the free world immediately recognized the new legitimate government. When the Ministry of Peace sent soldier-delegations to visit outlying rebel strongholds, the brainwashed inhabitants voted almost unanimously to appeal to hated Russia for help. Our Ministry of Plenty has reluctantly been forced to impose sanctions in the hope of starving the Russian terrorists into a more peaceful mind-frame. European allies are keen to give support even if this entails loss of trade and gas-supplies. Our Ministry of Peace relies on all proles of good-will to provide massive funding to cater for unlikely contingencies (e.g. surgical strikes by carpet-bombing drones if needed). In case any whistle-blower is tempted to foment trouble, our Ministry of Love reminds us that Rendition and so on are available as a last resort.

You forgot to add the critical role played by our independent media in disseminating far & wide the legitimate outrage of the Ministries of Truth & Peace when the Ukrainians and Russians dared to tamper with the originally foreseen outcomes.
We should applaud the media's fervent efforts to expose the brutalities of the Russians in Crimea. We should also applaud the media for their delicate volte face. When it became clear that our political ruling class magnanimously conceded the territory to Russia, the media took over the mantle of educating us all on how Crimea used to be a part of Russia right until Stalin handed it to Ukraine.
