How did EastGIB read that 3 bid? Mini-splinter? Fit-showing jump? When GIB was West, he simply made a limit raise.
Edit: Neither FSJ nor mini-splinter is included on GIB's convention card or system notes.

3H there is a fit jump as far as I know.

3 here is support jump shift by passed hand, 4+ and 11 or less HCP


Same would be the sequence - Pass - Pass - 1 - Pass - 2
