I have a proposal for a new Tournament.

Just like Poker has “Heads-Up” play, Bridge can have it also!

This would be a combination of Rubber Bridge & Robot Races.

2 people would race against each other (for 25 minutes or maybe only 20 minutes) in a total points format with both players sitting South, receiving the best hand, & both players playing the same deals (just as the current 25cent robot race).

There would still be an 80% prize pool, with winner take all. BBO Masterpoints would be awarded to the winner. Perhaps the winner could receive .15 or .20 Masterpoints.

For example we could start with $1, $3 and $5 tables.

This would be a great opportunity to win BB$, which cannot be withdrawn (not the same as the Rubber Bridge format).

Both players would have to agree to the Match before it would start. If a person quits in the middle & does not return before time expires, the money is forfeited & the other player would be the winner.

You could play against your friends, or challenge some “Big Guns” like Leo LaSota or Jlall…

The software is probably already in place, with just some fine-tuning & tweaking needed to be operational.

What do you guys think?

Welcome to the forums, Abby.

FYI, this forum is for discussion of general bridge issues that are not limited to online or offline play. There are a bunch of forums down below that are specific to BBO; "Suggestions for the Software" is the best place to submit suggestions like this.

I've sent a message to inquiry asking that this be moved to "Suggestions for the Software"

Not a bad idea, but it needs some finetuning imo. For example I wouldn't necessarily give the player the best hand.

Btw, I'm not sure I understood correctly but you're suggesting a race, so fast players can play more boards right? Personally I'd prefer a team match of a predetermined amount of boards between teams containing 3 gibs and a player (players sitting in the same seat). Assuming the gibs act similar at both tables  you'll get the best player at the end of the match.
