1, definitely not 2. A-empty is the worst suit to preempt on and R/W are the worst conditions to preempt in.

At these colors I just love the auction to go 1 (2) P (P); X (P) P (P). Of course the parentheses give away that I am a defender. While 1 is a logical alternative I prefer to possibly back in the auction with a pass now

I must be getting old, I think I prefer pass to 1 by a very slight margin. 2 is out though, for reasons stated by gwnn.
