3NT right away might also do the trick. It's gambling, I know, but it might be better than just bidding 3♦.

I would have bid a delayed 3♦ but now that I've read Vampyr's post, I prefer her 3♠ call. Even if the situation has never arisen before and we've never discussed it, a logical partner may be able to deduce the likely meaning of 3♠, from systemic understandings in related contexts. .

gonzalo, after 2♠ you can try 3♦.

Then LHO is probably going to bid 3♠ and you push it one more with 4♦.

Then LHO loses his patience and dbls.

You make it, possibly with an overtrick. LHO goes into tilt mode.

Now that's an interesting idea -- no need to worry anymore about the spade lead. In fact you will probably get a diamond (if LHO's got one).

3Nt direct against weak players pass and 3S against strong players.

Strong players know that leading an A is a must in "3Nt gambling" type contracts.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

I quite like the pass then cuebid approach. a 3N overcall to begin with seems like a complete gamble which does not necessarily make it a bad bid, but it's not my style anymore.
