We scored 4% this game as WE playing 3♠N=

How would you imagine the bidding would go if 4 experts were playing it?

Something wrong here. 4% for N/S making 3S when opps gin for 6D does not compute. 3S cannot make anyway, losing 3 hearts and two diamonds. Maybe you were E/W (not "we" playing 3S=").

I wouldn't pass the W hand over 3♣, there are some very bad hands opposite that will make game (or slam). Also presuming 2♣ showed 10+ I'd X 3♠ with the E hand (not penalties by our methods, suggesting 1543/0553 shape and almost definitely only 3 clubs)
