As a dealer I got the following difficult  hand:

S: AJ
H: x
D: Ax
C: xxxxxxxx

At first glance it looked to be a weak hand, but actually
it has 2 quick tricks, and 6 potential tricks in clubs, if club
is the trump.
As I do not mix preemptives with aces, I desided to open 1C, and rebid 2C and 3C.
My partner reacted that I had to pass my hand.
I still do not agree with him, as what I need from him
for a game of 5C may be 10 points(the ace of harts, and
the two kings of spades and diamonds).
I am very interested in other opinons.

Hi haim,

luckily you won`t get hands too often, where you have a 8 card suit with zero points.
I think, that your idea to open was right: You have good offense, a good defense and nothing else is really better.

SAYC, 4C in the first seat white vs red. 3C equal or unfavored.

2nd seat - 1C.

or even better

Precision 2C

The reason for the differences is that I believe preempts show happen more in the 1st seat, than the 2nd. In the 2nd seat there is a good change that your partner has the points and your preempt would impede your auction. In the 1st seat, more probability of impedeing the opps auction.

But, your mileage may vary.
Some of it's magic
Some of it's tragic
But I've had a good liefe all the way.

I was pass initially and then try to back into the auction if partner passes. Who knows. Someone might double 3C.
