West doesn't raise with 4-card support but South raises with 1? Are they sharing the bong?

Im not sharing, I've corrected the auction ;) It's late here.

Prefer x rather than 1H by the East hand. After East's 2S overbid, what on earth is 2NT? by West with 4 card S support? personally both East and West are off with the pixies here.

Is one bid worse than the other? Hm, I don't know, they are all pretty bad. But East made two of them and West only one....

OK, the first 1 wasn't that horrible. I prefer double, but I can live with 1. 2 however is an overbid by about 6-points, now double is really clear-cut. Given what East showed, West has a 100% raise to 4, and I have no idea what (s)he was fooling around with 2NT for - presumably thought it was forcing, which is not that unreasonable, but even if it were forcing I still don't see the point.

This hand should have been posted in the interesting bridge hands forum. A major suit lead is needed to beat the contract.

NS bid reasonably, I wouldn't worry about what EW were doing.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
