Swiss teams. Playing pretty standard 2/1 with pickup partner.

What should South do now?

Suppose you passed to learn if W held diamonds, planning to discount your KD if so, but to bid further if not.

1. Appreciate comments on the approach
2. What to bid now?

It would be interesting to know what West's minor is, but I'm not going to bid 3NT if it goes 3-P-P. Since I will bid 3 anyway I may as well do it immediately. Probably the information will be more useful to RHO than to me.

The second part may depend on what is going on. Is East's 3 a constructive move with an immediate 3 being a signoff, or is this how East gets to play 3? Anyway I would probably bid 3 in either case but 3NT has some appeal if East is just weak with long diamonds.

We should try to involve partner instead of just guessing ourselves. X of 2NT and then 3 if partner says nothing. If partner doubles 3 we could bid 3NT over RHO's 3.

X of 2N, passing seems silly. This gets partner involved and will make our problems much easier. Now I guess I'd bid 3, random guess though

I'd definitely Dbl 2NT, I have extra's. Who knows, partner may have a weak hand with support, or some penalty opportunities.

With the auction given, we passed to hear if LHO has or . Now that we hear he has , we don't discount our K. I guess we have to bid 3, that's why we passed first...

Is that one of GIB's "Likely stop in " bids?
