and I *think* I might have found a way to do so. I would not be surprised if there was a more elegant way to do this, but I am not a php or sql expert, nor do I have admin access... so...
step 1:
change your BBF bookmark to the following link:
http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=forums§ion=markasread&marktype=forum&forumid=56&returntoforumid=0&i=1
this marks the forum with id = 56 as "read," which happens to be the laws section of BBF. Note, that if someone posts something new to the forum between when you visited the forums via this link and you clicked [view new content], that post will show up.
step 2:
go to your profile. click [edit settings]. this should be in the top right of your window
click the [Settings] tab on the left side
scroll to the bottom of the options available in this panel until you get to "search settings" and make sure the option box is set to:
[show me all content that i have not read]
save changes (if you made any).
note that this changes the nature of what [view new content] shows from everything that's been put up since the last time you logged onto the forums to everything that you've not already read that has been added to the forums since the last time you logged on.
step 3:
cross your fingers and hope it works.
I bet there's some way to turn off multiple forums, possibly via macros in your browser... who knows..
btw, the list of forum IDs is:
